Here's one I meant to add in earlier!

(And the only reason i didn't just simply add it on to the Catherine entry was because I didn't know if people would look back over ones they'd already looked at, so in other words, I wanted to make sure people could see it)

 

Contemporary Art Final Piece (Plan)

These are my drafts ideas for my contemporary art final piece (In other words, these are what I would have done if we needed to do the final pieces); a pen drawing of my friends celebrating. Basically I'd take the drawings/photos I'd already done, and put together a scene of them having a party and these are the four designs I came up with. I would use just pen again and draw the entire scene on A2 or A1 sized paper, more drawings on one page and in bigger scale.

my favourite designs were 2 and 4, so if I had done a final piece I would have done either of them if not both.

The Last Drawing!

Another one of Catherine and her fabulous hair (couldn't resist), I figured, once again the messy flying hair suggests movement (dancing) but also because she's facing straight forward, I thought it could possibly be used as a centre piece for poster experiments.

I couldn't pick one colour that suited her best, I liked them all, which gave me inspiration for the next picture. (Below) Not sure if she's zooming forward or backward, could be either, I genuinely love the result, funky as hell, could possibly be used as a poster (But it would likely be a complicated poster; probably hard to read the words if I put any on it. however, I'll still experiment with it, because I do like it.)

Second experiment; Colourful symmetry! once again, a really bright funky result, however still over the top. however it would still definitely make an awesome Technicolor dream coat; why have just plain colours when you could have a fabulous face and hair on it too?

 

Further back, the patterns look more curvy (Her hair), which I think is pretty because of that.

The more duplicated the pattern is, the more neon it appears, funky as hell, could possibly be used for an outfit, however all the colours make me think of candy wrappers; bright, colourful and appeals to children.

Another set of drawings, this is Zoe; having fun, either smiling, laughing or just making a silly face for the camera.

Coloured Zoe; I just went with this colour because I thought it suited her.

(Below) Another attempt at a pattern using just the one drawing (Like the one of Catherine).

First attempt; Pretty funky.

This one above is a bit freaky, if u look at the centre figures, you'll see their faces are messed up; I just used symmetry of the previous picture to make this pattern, and this is the result; a little freaky but still funky.

Attempts at combining another set of patterns (still of the same image) to the coloured one; these are probably my least favourite patterns so far, I'm not sure if I would go any further with it, however I do still like the individual drawing of Zoe.

 

 

She should be holding a shot glass on the left, but it got cut off as I scanned the drawing in. I'm disappointed about that because that's partly why I drew this one; I figured the shot glass further conveyed the party theme. However, she still looks like she's having a good time (Did not make any Photoshop experiments of this drawing on its own, hence why I'm just adding it onto the Zoe experiment entry).

Catherine and The Fabulous Flying Hair!!

I just loved drawing this picture, to me it screams celebration because she's obviously moving her head around like crazy, as though she were dancing and having a good time. (That and I love her hair in this picture.)

 

First Set:

 

Andy Warhol style pattern; One that I think would make a funky shirt (Or bedsheets actually).

Second set of patterns:

I love the shiny waves and swirls effect, they make me think of the kind of fancy wallpaper you'd find in an old Victorion household.

 

 

Third set of patterns:

Digitally coloured (No paticular reason for the selected ones; I just went with what I believed suited the picture.) and I basically started off with the same pattern style as the one above (Just coloured) but then tried to move onto something different.

Of the two above I don't know which one I prefer; I felt that the first one was a bit bare with all the blank spaces so I tried to fill it in with black and white pictures of Catherine. On the whole I believe its funky, but wether it's too much or not; I feel as though I'd have to test it on some kind of fabric to see for sure (If I had the time I would have loved to print this on a dress).

I love this particular set of designs, probably my favourite for the "Applied crafts" side of the project; if I could make clothes i'd use these patterns.

For "Pathways Project" at college we recieved our first brief at the end of January; (we were given the choice between four topics and I chose:) "How do you celebrate the ballpoint pen?" and we have to refer to all three pathways as we work through the topics (Contemporary Art, Applied Crafts and Design and Visual Comunication.). After a couple of weeks of research and deciding what to do, I decided to start by drawing scenes of "celebration", in this case I've based my work on a series of photos of my classmates and I having a fun night out partying in November last year. This is the first set of drawings I've done (Using only pen) and a series of photoshop edited patterns I've made using them.

Applied Design Crafts

I was thinking that I could use patterns like these for clothes and furniture; simple looking from a distance but more detailed up close. My main source of inspiration for the "Applied Design Craft" pathway of my topic is the "Timorous Beasties" Art group. 

Transformaton - Photoshop - Colouring sessions continue

After our class on the 7th, we had a week off from college, so our next session for "Specialist Skills" wasn't until the 21st. Turns out, we actually had another session on colouring our drawn pictures; only we were to do another picture. This actually came as a surprise to the class, we were expecting to learn something new, so I had no prepared drawing to work from and had to quickly draw one in class so I could get down to work. Well because I was pressed for time, I wasn't very imaginative, I just drew another picture of Amalthea (One of these days i'll be more inventive) but I was going to try make it look as though she's just about to transform back into a unicorn at the end of the story.

 

 

After that day however, we have begun working on the illustrator program and I' not sure when I will next continue (Or even finish) this particular piece. I think to be fair this is simply a test piece for using photoshop. Despite the fact that I'm not likey to finish this, I definetely feel more confident in using photoshop and would like to use it ore in future.
